AC stopped working
Any AC experts on here who may be able to assist??

My AC stopped working in the spring, had the system drained, tested and refilled (first time in 10 years and it was only slightly low). No leaks identified.

Worked fine all summer. Stopped working again in September. Nanocom can trigger the compressor and its not seized. Fan works fine as well via Nanocom and 12V directly. AC blower works as it should. Disassembled both switches and cleaned them then reassembled and still no joy.

Finally decided to have my LR indie garage specialist have at her. My mechanic suggested we try the receiver dried after the refill machine identified the system was contaminated. Changed receiver drier, refilled properly, still not working. Wiring diagrams do not match my VIN according to Topix and the electrical library does not have values to measure for input measurements on switches, trinary switch etc. Decided to change the Trinary switch, still not working. Temp sensor to AC module in the evap is working according to their tests. AC control module was switched out with a spare and its still not working. Simoly cannot get the compressor to trigger and start cooling Big Cry

Any ideas where to go from here?

Really?!? Hmmm, that’d be a new one on me! Never seen one fail being completely intact and in good shape.

Mine was brand new LR one, new seals. It leaked out every 6 months, gas would only last the summer.

They may appear to be in good condition but often arnt Instagram @defender_ventures

No leaks now, but could it be blocked internally?? 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

What pressures are you getting in the HP and LP lines with the compressor running and with it not running?

I don’t have those values. The compressor won’t engage… I’ll see if my guy has them recorded for not running and report back.

Ah, OK, I missed that bit in your original post. Embarassed

So compressor works from Nanocom but not autonomously. Suggests that one or more of the switches involved is haywire. Let me ponder about this for a bit to see if I can come up with any ideas.....

Curiously my TD5 Disco2 has been exhibiting odd A/C symptoms as well, but I am not sure how similar the two are. I have more or less understood how the Disco2 is supposed to work.

Sounds like more of any electric issue. So its a 2000 and should therefor have the 'add on' AC module at your knees. The wiring diagram for that is easily attainable.

Unlike a really simple system there is an electronic thermostat through the controller and the engine ECU has some control over the Compressor and Fan too. Its a pretty simple system and you need to chase back the power supply check the relay functions and wire continuity. It could be the controller but most likely there is a relay or power supply fault.
