Belt tensioner would be a starter to check. Sounds like drive belt derived noise.

Yep. I’m not hearing enything that particularly worries me. It is a Landy. It’ll keep going. It’s just telling you it wants some of your money and time.

Just double check the crank pulley. I had a squeak which I thought was the tensioner. On replacing it I noticed the crank pulley was wobbly. Rubber damper had collapsed in it - if so replace ASAP as it'll snap the crank (having snapped done two I think I know)... Ed

@sako243 thanks for your reply! Where would this be located? It sounds as tho the noise is coming from the front left hand side of the engine. Mine is a LHD if that makes any difference?
@Landy Andy; hope you are right cheers! |

Big pulley at the bottom of the engine. One big (24 or 27mm, can't remember off the top of my head) bolt holding it on. Easier to have a look from underneath.
If there's rubber dust around it I'd be concerned as well. New pulleys aren't dear but easier to replace with the radiator out. Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |
