Even if a tdci is 'just' a 5 or 7 seater I'd have thèse old tyres replaced.

My MT are also getting old (5 years) and I'm having tje first issues :

- abrasion ans sawtooth effects - need equilibration
- it seems that they are not as smooth as new ones which results in bulges when cold

- loss of grip when the road is wet / cold

Tyres age for sure, but it is a bit depending on the condition and use. Heat and sun is particularly detrimental. When I lived in the UAE I recall you would fail your test with tires more than 5 years old.

Cars that are garaged in a more mild northern climate and not driven much tyres will last much longer but they do go hard and they loose grip. 17 years sounds excessively old, but frankly they look in good condition with no visible cracking so they must have had a sheltered life
