Defender 110 side steps * protection from other car doors
Hi,

I have a d350 xhse 110 with air suspension landing in March 2025. I’ve not ordered side steps due to comments on here and other sites about third party side steps being just as good as Landrover but much cheaper.
Do they actually provide any protection from other car users doors when the air is in access mode?

I ask as that’s the only reason I’d buy them. I had a Freelander 1 with side steps which seemingly attracted dirt and debris but didn’t stop other car doors opening into my doors.

They don't.
The side STEPS are for the ease of ingress and egress into the car. They weren't designed to stop other car doors from banging into your car. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

Yep the standard steps are pretty low, and the new defender is quite “barrel” sided so that the step isn’t really any further out than the centre of the door.

I’ve got rock/tree sliders on mine which do a better job Cheers, David

Thank you both for the information, it has confirmed what I had suspected.
