Subwoofer
Can anyone tell me

What hardware do l need apart from the actual subwoofer, if l want to install one in my Defender (no subwoofer fitted)

l've been offered the actual unit for ยฃ60. But is there a bracket or some sort of mounting that l will also need?

l believe it's under the passenger seat (RHD vehicle) could someone possibly have a look at how it's attached to the vehicle.

Thank you in advance. As the seller is breaking the vehicle l could ask them to supply any extra mounting hardware so long as it's removable. But l would need to know what to ask for.

l also read somewhere on the forum how to attach it to the amplifier, so l will have to find that information as well.

Itโ€™s not possible to take a pic without moving a load of interior trim.

Subwoofer is under the driver's seat (passenger for RHD). According to the workshop manual, all Defenders come with a subwoofer, including those without the Meridian sound, as it is used for the fake engine noise. I have the Meridian system and have attached a picture of the subwoofer below. You can see it by removing the cover under the seat. Looks like it is just bolted down with four bolts.

Yes; fake engine noise, or as JLR calls it "Active Sound Design."

JLR has been doing it since the Ingenium engines have come out, so 2016 for the I4 and 2019 for the I6. Loads of other manufacturers do it, too. BMW was the one to really push it and others have followed suit. I've been in loads of cars with it, so I knew it was fake on my first test drive before I ordered mine. Most people wouldn't know its fake, but roll the windows down, floor it and you barely hear the engine because the wind noise is louder than the fake engine noise. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ƒ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐’ ๐๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)

You can turn it off by using a GAP tool or the Pathfinder software. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ƒ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐’ ๐๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)

Can you turn it into a V8 burble instead?! Iโ€™ve always fancied a V8 so I could finally tick the box!

I don't know the codes on the GAP tool. And no, you can't make it sound like the V8. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ƒ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐’ ๐๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)
