The following may or may not be relevant to diesel fuel:
It HAS been proven that BP, Shell, Esso etc. petrol gives better fuel consumption than that sold in supermarket filling stations and, provided the price differential isnt too much, will work out in the end more economical (most recent survey done by the German ADAC and published in their magazine). I avoid supermarket fuel whenever I can. It HASNT been proven - at least to my satisfaction - that V-Plus etc. gives any mpg benefits, and any perceived advantages may well be subjective (Ive experimented with 2SO in my Puma, couldnt detect any difference at all, other than that it now seems to throw out more black smoke when cold - hope I havent b.red anything). BUT, I also run a Morgan and friends with V8s which are susceptible to failing the MOT because of emissions have time and time again got them through after tanking up with Super Duper Premium or whatever and giving it a good run through. So there must be SOME difference Peter (just checked daughters Fiesta - the petrol filler is on the OPPOSITE side to that suggested by the fuel gauge) |

I put bp ultimate in this time around, and would definitely say its quieter and smoother than before.
not tried 2so yet, but will do. Ultimate is only 6 euro cents more than regular here, and bp is my regular garage anyway, I reckon 2so would work out at 3c, so tempted to use ultimate. Is there a good reason not to use every tank, except cost? |

I was running the normal repsol before (as well as normal bp) , so what my comparison was.
I've not tried the premium repsol (e+10 ?) yet... Bare in mind only had the truck for a month or so, so still trying things out ( funny, I used to live in Zurich ... Before I moved to Spain recently, im going to miss the snow abit ) |

We have Esso and Aral near us (no BP sadly) and their prices are competetive. Any info on the quality? Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Hey guys, do you really believe in marketing managers who name funcy names to their own products. All eu diesels are amost the same and they are pruduced in simiar facilities.
Sorry, only marketing strategies in my own opinion. |

Even if that were true, I'm sure the storage in some of the Tankstellen round here is pretty bloody awful There's at least one cheap "no-namer" I will never go to again - I was sure my Audi was dying a few km later... I've been told that the super amazing diesel burns cleaner and is better for the engine?? As a result I put it in from time to time whenever I stop somewhere that has one.
How much of this is true? p.s I would say that super diesel runs a bit smoother. Never good enough at maths/have a calculator around at the right time to work out MPG differences... but nothing noticeable on that front for me. |

As its a Ford Puma diesel engine surely they guzzle anything.
The Army have a few and don't seem to have any issues and you can't get much cheaper and fuel that that!! Interesting views on the engine noises lifting on different fuels used, be interesting to see what those more qualified on here think about that? |
