Puma First Service - Using an Independent
Hi

Puma is due for first service end of March and I am thinking of using an independent and most likely Land Ranger in Shrewsbury. Anyone know of these guys and if so, will an independent pick up on any recalls that may need doing? I have been quoted £150 all in from them compared to cheapest main dealer quote of £300.

Cheers

I have a friend who is a very good independent - services all bar my new land rovers.

£300 isnt a bad price for a main dealer, i wouldnt expect the independent to check the recalls or action them to be honest

Pay your money - take your choice i suppose. Mike

In their defence its a big car....
but seriously I've found out today that they are going to have it back on Monday to resolve the problems.

The first service is pretty basic stuff anyway and I had mine done by a local independent and was able to oversee the work.

What recalls are you thinking of?

Cheers guys

Miserableoldgit

Only recalls I have been told by my main dealer is sump guard and possibly breather pipe? I don't know if there would be any need for a software update but I'm guessing this could/would be done by an independent via diagnostics software anyway?

Cheers

There are many more, but would have to be done or approved first by LR Mike

Surely if I have the service done at the independent and then book my car into the main dealer Shukers Ludlow (who incidentally are excellent just more expensive on the service front than an independent) they will do any recalls AND any software updates then? I am assuming that the software updates would be done as per any recall and I shouldn't expect to pay for these? LR 90 XS GONE! Hurrah!
