Removing seat box fuse wires (TD5)

I'm trying to remove my seat box ('99 Defender 110 TD5) and I need to remove the electrics under the seat. I have the ECU out, and i've disconnected the plugs from the fuse box, but I can't remove the two brown wires at the bottom of the box.

If I understand correctly, once all wires are disconnected, I feed them and the rubber grommets through the seat box hole.

How do you disconnect the brown wires from the fuse box?

Thanks
Alex

Remove the bolts/screws from the top. Those wires have terminals (right angle shaped I think) which are screwed down.

Pop the top off and you’ll see Smile  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, worked like a charm.

Actually I think the plastic top just popped off with a screwdriver and the only screws I had to undo were the two ground/earth brown wires. I removed all the screws initially and it turned out that wasn't necessary. Those were the fuses., but now I know how easy it is to change a blown fuse.

For anyone else it may help, after the ground wires are disconnected from the fuse box, squish the rubber grommets down and push them through the seat box hole. Slowly pull through all the wire harness. There's also one clip on the underside of the seat box that needs to be pulled up by hand.

Cheers

Be careful those thick brown wires are live + feeds to the fuse box.

Thank you for the clarification.

The battery was removed a few days prior.

Yes live feed from battery positive. Be careful tightening them back up as it’s easy to strip the nut/damage the housing. Just little more than hand tight
