Hi everyone,
After two months of standing still, my td5 just suddenly started to make this noise just before it cuts off. I know it’s lot a lot to go from, but anyone having a clue? If I ignite again it will do the same process again, run a little bit and then make the noise. Here’s a video of the sound https://youtube.com/shorts/FiDk_vPUDOw?si=D-zLkBOLtC2puHJf |

Sounds to me like the starter is re engaging… but hard to tell from the clip.
Hope you get it sorted, |

Check the harmonic balancer / bottom pulley and see if it’s failing.

My repairman was busy till end of November, so here I am again 😅
Removed the alternator belt and ignited/ran just fine. So the issue is somewhat connected there. All the things the belt touches seems fine by hand touch. Any ideas of further trouble shooting, or should I replace things one by one starting with the harmonic balancer? Thank you 😘 Last edited by The wildest man in town on 16th Oct 2024 7:04am. The belt tensioner can cause a lot of noise when it begins to wear out and fail. I would start with that.

Thanks Jim!
I'll try replacing the tensioner for sure! Edit So I'm thinking it's either the tensioner, harmonic balancer or the PAS pump. But not really sure there's an issue with the harmonic balancer since it doesn't make the sound without the belt but still moves during idling? Any ideas? 🤗 |
