Key Fob Dead, central locking locked - Help

Dear all,

I have been reading similar posts for the past hour and no one has quite reported my problem, so here we go.

2014 Defender 110
2 newer style key fobs (silver strip down the side).
Car last driven 6 days ago - all good and working as it should. No warning lights anywhere.

I went to use the car this afternoon.

Key fob not working. pressed unlock - central locking does not unlock.
Tried the metal key into the drivers door and the key won't turn.
Tried the metal key in the rear door and the key will turn and the door opens.
Replaced fob battery as per instructions in owners handbook.
No change.
Stood pressing lock button 4 times and unlock once - nothing.

Any suggestions? I've read a lot of posts with similar problems but not being able to open the driver's door is confusing me....and I wasn't that bright to start with.

Vehicle battery voltage below expected voltage due to some kind of parasitic current drain.

Possibly.

Hence why no fob sync.

Another possibility is ground fault, creating similar circumstances as above.
These things just happen out of the blue, and maybe due to ambient temps dropping a little recently at night. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸

Thanks for the response....would changing car battery solve the problem or charging the battery?

i'm lost when it comes to electrics.

we're meant to be off on the NC500 around Scotland on Sunday for a week!

Twas the original battery causing the problem!

At the risk of being melodramatic, that's my holiday saved!

Glad to hear that all was well, I would recommend you try and find what caused it or ask someone to find it though for you as there is some parasitic drain, or the battery if it is old maybe past its best.

One of the other, just to be safe so it doesn’t happen again.
