2.4 Puma Engine into 2.2 Puma
Hi

I have a broken engine in a 2.2 Puma Defender. I also have a good 2.4 Puma engine. Would like to put the 2.4 engine in the 2.2 Defender.

Currently have the following:

2.4 Puma Engine including loom
2.4 Puma chassis harness including 2.4 fuel lines and tank sender unit
2.4 Puma main harness
A green alarm box
A 2.4 Puma Dash Cluster and a 2.2 Puma Dash Cluster
A 2.4 Puma ECU
Many other necessary 2.4 bits

What is the chance of this engine running with all these 2.4 Puma bits? Or what do I need to do to get it to run? Its really the electrics / alarm / syncing issues that I think may cause problems.

Where is the chassis number stored? Instrument Cluster or ECU or both?

I have another working 2.4 Puma to make comparisons if necessary.

Thanks

IIRC the vin is originaly written on the ECU and then it is registered into a EEPROM chip into the IPAC. I believe it is possible to erase/change the eeprom. I am sure somebody will come with a more precise answer. Finally, the known tuners will know the exact answer. Puma 110" SW

The IPAC eeprom would need replacing to change the vin and to change mileage if it needs to be reduced.
So called “ mileage correction “ ( clockers Mad ) companies can do this.
