Some years ago, not long after I bought my 2.2 Puma 110, I did its first long journey in my ownership, a run up the M4 for a couple of hours. Just as I slowed down and came off at the other end, the amber DPF warning lit up. I pulled over, switched it off, allowed it to sit for a few minutes and then re-started and the light cleared. It never returned over the next 5 years of ownership.
Recently, we bought our daughter a Hyundai i10 (bear with me). She ran around locally for a few weeks without issue and then took it on its first long run to Somerset down the A303. When she got back the engine warning light came on and a code reader suggested an EGR problem. It cleared after a few days and hasn't returned.
What I'm getting at in a slightly long-winded way is that emission control stuff does sometimes get in a state if the driving pattern of the vehicle changes drastically, which can happen at change of owner. Darren

Took Defender for a very short blast, approx 2 miles. DPF light went out, kept going for another 20 mins and have not heard the hiccup!!
Just need to order and replace the temp sensor and see what happens to the gaugeā¦
