Click image to enlarge Not what I had in mind when thinking off-road... Hi All, My 110 broke down with a broken rotor in the distributor. Have been towed back to my campsite in Newquay. Am due to leave on the weekend. Trying to source the part but struggle to get the old rotor off bare handed.... Is anyone around the area able to help with some tools? And perhaps even with the part sourcing bit? Any help would be enormously appreciated. Thanks. 1988 Land Rover OneTen County SW, 3.9l Petrol V8 (serpentine), original "Santana" LT85 gearbox |

You should be able to remove the rotor by hand with a bit of wiggling. You will however need to support the rotor shaft with a screwdriver or something holding it down so you don’t damage the advance mechanism. If you don’t, it’s possible to pull the whole shaft up.

That is what I thought. I remember doing this on a classic Mini and it was really easy to get off. But here it appears rock solid...
How do you hold the shaft down though? There is nowhere any space to access it or to even touch it with a screwdriver with the rotor in place... 1988 Land Rover OneTen County SW, 3.9l Petrol V8 (serpentine), original "Santana" LT85 gearbox |

If memory serves correctly you should be able to access the tip of the cam lobe.
Mind you this was a 3.5 and I don’t know if the 3.9 is the same |

YouTube “how to” videos can be really useful for specific fixes for a particular job.
Sometimes you can pick up some tips there, if a knack of doing something is needed. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

What about calling Mick Moores in St. Columb? I don’t know them but just saw their website on the web.

So, finally I got the rotor off. Stuck on there like cemented... Unfortunately, a little piece of the black plastic cover on top of the distributor snapped off in the process. Hope that's not causing an issue?

Just as an update, I got the new rotor today and fitted it straight away. First test drive reveals a smoother running engine than before. Thanks for everyone's input.

Brilliant when the fix is better than just a roadside repair. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Glad you fixed it. I do hope you’ll carry a spare, which of course will ensure it will never ever go wrong. Ever.
