One way of avoiding messing around with it with the original at least, is mark reference marks like using tip ex or use plastic zip ties so that if for example you remove it or need to replace the UJ’s everything goes back exactly as it was.
You can get them sent off to be balanced as well, but with costs of shipping etc unless they are high quality and value such as GL’s then probably with standard ones replace can be better if balance is an issue.
But I replaced the UJ’s (GKN) on my standard props, put them back exactly as they were with the flanges to diff flanges and yolks. No problems with any vibrations since.
They are quite difficult to identify a failed bearing though unless you take at least one end of the prop off.
I was seeking an issue with mine at one time, it went into a garage and wasn’t noticed that there was the bearing cup roller bearings that had failed within it, went through MOT and wasn’t noticed.
It was only noticed when I took it off to check.
One thing to look for is, the imbalance is worse at under 15mph improves at higher speed, you also get a little loose knock or movement at clutch bite due to the small bit of slack in the drivetrain caused by it.
Though you can get the same from worn DM’s and spines too, the two often help one another wear out too. 
If it’s worn rear DM splines excessive movement when the handbrake is applied shows that on the rear, but the wear happens over time so you might notice so much after a while.. NEVER SURRENDER! ⛽️🛢️👨🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
