Help needed 200tdi turbo removal
Hi all,

So as the title suggests, the turbo to manifold gasket is blown. I have ordered a couple of genuine Land Rover gaskets, I’ve also ordered a new top pipe oil feed from pioneer 4x4 for a little extra bling.

My question is, is there a way to take the turbo and exhaust elbow off in one piece or do I have to take the whole manifold off?
The reason I ask is the four bolts look to be very hard to gain access to. I just wanted to know what tools I’d need or what could help.
I know the Censored can be seized on good but the bolts and nuts have recently been changed so touch wood there shouldn’t be any problems there (the turbo was from a donor but I think a subpar gasket was used).

I’m hoping one of you are going to just tell me it’s dead easy and that it just needs a couple of hours and all I need is a 12mm offset spanner and some patience and jobs a goodun.

Any step by step help for just removing the turbo would be amazing. Also any tips removing and fitting a new top oil feed pipe would be amazing too.

Regards Blue

Its a bloody awful job but doable.

Thin spanners and lots of patience. best replace the nuts as they will be mauled.

the oil pipe is usually very tight and caused the most problems when I did mine.

when you tighten it up, run it to get it hot, let it cool and tighten again.

awkward but doable, make sure you have some Ibuleave ready as it not a good job for your back.

Thanks bowbearer good to know there is no specialised tools or anything. As mentioned the studs and nuts have recently been changed so I’m hoping it will all come off fine. As for the oil pipe it looks like a tight access point for the bottom but doable. From what I can see it threads into something that in turn threads into the block??? I assume if I hold the thing threaded into the block and just lever off to crack it free, just awful access.

As long as I can just take the turbo off on its Todd that works for me I think.
