Not sure about JLR's case - but its fairly common for multinational corporations to be headquartered in Ireland due to favorable tax and corporate governance regulations. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

To sell your products in the EU, your company must have a registered address in the EU territory. It was with utter fury that I had to change all the company's packaging a few years ago to comply with this, yet another kick in the b**** from Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving nothing but grief to business!!!

Why on earth didn't they just say "Nitra, Slovakia" which is where Discovery and Defender are now built?
There is no whole vehicle assembly done in Ireland. Suppose it will be for tax purposes. Sell it from a plant in one country, to an office in a low tax country, then onto the customer, without it ever going to Ireland. The Irish government won't mind collecting a smaller percentage of tax, especially if they would otherwise get nothing! |
