Automatic headlights
Does anyone know if any adjustments at all can be made to the automatic headlights using the GAP tool?

For instance, turn the automatic function off so they don't come on when l drive under a tree on an otherwise sunny day, and immediately turn off again having passed under said tree.

Then have the car in front stop to find out "why are you flashing your lights"

Or at least, adjust it so they don't come on when the light reduces for five seconds. For instance when driving under a tree.
lt must be legal, to be able to turn it off, as our 2020 Jimny has the option for completely manual headlights.

You can turn the headlights to "off" with the column stalk but they immediately turn back on when you start moving.

I’ve never had them come on when driving under a tree - it would need to be a decent length of dark/shade for that to happen.

Can't you turn off the auto/on setting in the pivi?
Also if the car in front stops because they think you've flashed your headlights I'd suggest extending your middle finger as you pass Laughing

l don't know, can you turn it off? Won't it just turn itself back on like the stop/start

Do you have a GAP 4?

If not I can sit and scan through the 1000+ list of codes and let you know. There are a lot of lighting options so at a guess I'd say you could turn auto high beam off permanently.
I'll be turning off the unnecessary brake assist, twice now the car has slammed on and swerved the steering as we've driven around bends with parked cars on them (at the roadside on the bends). Ridiculous.

Same here, with me it was when l am waiting in the middle of the road to turn right, and a gap in the traffic appears.
l turn and the Defender decides there isn't enough space and slams on the brakes, nearly causing an accident

l've got the GAP 3 currently. Keep meaning to send it back in exchange for a version 4. I would happily turn off the automatic lights or at least make it an option like it is on our Suzuki Jimny.

Somewhere it will be possible to calibrate the sensor and one option would be to reduce the sensitivity so the lights only come on automatically when it's actually dark. As you already have the DRL's on all the time anyway.

However it has saved me on one occasion when l turned into an entrance and failed to see a low wall.

The Defender stopped itself and there was no damage. Except it was that close, when l reversed it pulled the lower front corner trim off. Fortunately the part only cost £85 and was easy to replace.
