MAF sensor MIL
Hello all,
While on a trip recently, my defender (2.4tdci 110 Hardtop) flashed up a MIL, which came up as codes P1102 and P0100, both related to the MAF sensor.
I've checked the MAF and cables, cleaned it, checked all pipework for splits, cracks etc, but can't see anything that would be an issue. The only thing I can see that is wrong is that my airbox doesn't quite seal properly on one side, but that shouldn't be causing this I guess? Anyone got any other ideas?

Try sealing the air box.. That is exactly the sort of thing that could cause your code..
If that doesn't sort your issue then check the supply and ground on the sensor.. I think the maf uses a 12V supply.
And finally what it is actually outputting.. Trouble with that final check is it helps if you have a known good reference..

Thanks Martin, will have a look at that thread. The full codes are P0100-29 and P1102-00.
P0100-29 says "Mass or volume air flow circuit" and P1102-00 says "Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor in range but below the expected level".

Hi all,
So I have tried things mentioned in the post above. I have also checked all my boost piping for cracks/leaks and found nothing, checked the intercooler for cracks and found nothing, checked the MAF and MAP wiring and all is in good condition, and even replaced the MAF sensor entirely. I've hooked up my Ultragauge and checked the readings and they line up with where they should be. I've also tried clearing the code and it has just returned as I drive the vehicle.
Does anyone have any other recommendations before I give up and take it into a specialist?

Other related items, which couls cause mass air flow faults would be your turbo or the egr valve not working correctly..
When you say the figures for mass air flow are as expected what figures are you getting and under what conditions when it flags a fault..
I've never done it but a good scan tool will collect and record freeze frame data at the time the codes are generated that can be checked later.. If you have a scan tool or know someone who has..
