I got involved partly because I already do Motorsport recovery as a licensed Motorsport UK recovery unit and partly because a while ago on Facebook I spotted a post from the people who do recovery on other circuits asking for help, I offered and then did a few circuits over the last couple of years.
They have the deal with doing recovery at the F1 at Silverstone @ibexman - I wasnt going to pay that price to watch, but doing recovery I get in for free 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

If you do have an urge to get closer to Motorsport, volunteers are always welcome. Many areas you can get involved with Recovery Rescue Marshaling (circuits/forests) Radio marshal Just to name a few. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Well that was a long few days but what an experience.
Working track side picking up a few broken down cars from the track/gravel and also moving the top 3 podium cars from the podium back to the garages under the eyes of the team members and scrutineers. Talk to Dave K if you want advice re volunteering as a marshal he was there recruiting.

Well worth volunteering if you enjoy motorsport - get a bit closer to the action. Don't forget its not just circuits that need marshals, forest rallies, sprints, hill climbs, off road events all need help. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Great to hear you were involved in the action!
Have you ever did the BTCC events? I used to go to the BTCC at croft and Knockhill. My dad said he would take me to sliverstone, and so he did, what a place! I said how about i take you to Brandshatch, He loved it, and i got one of the VIP suites so we were in doors. My dad was buzzing. Closest thing i got to some action was the metro cup at sliverstone, i got to know some of the lads in it, and helped push a car into scrutineers, for the pre race check up. My dad jumped at the chance to get a photo of the pit lane, and pole. Also Silverstone's cafe is a must, just for breakfast and be posh lunch too, same goes for knockhill. ( Knock hill has a bar on site) Brands hatch's cafe is a bar too. Shame me and my dad couldn't have a pint sadly there, as i was driving. I have not done the BTCC events - maybe one day I may do some BTCC.

you have not lived if you have not done a BTCC event! But it is a shadow form of itself sadly compared to what it used to be. But still an enjoyable weekend.
Knock hill is a one of the men not for the boys, and the weather just changes on tap regardless. I remember me and my dad going there for our very 1st time, we loved it! He had walked out of the rain, and i was still in it. We were a matter of yards from each other. If only he didn't act him self we would have done more events. My mam got a taste of it all, when we took her to croft for the btcc one year and Knockhill. She loved the full lot. She would always watch it live on tv, Knockhill i said i will take you, so you can enjoy the hill. We walked the circuit, the last time we were there. I should look at doing the marshal stuff, camping etc. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
