Dials misbehaving when turning ignition off
Hi all
Apologies I've had a good search and can't find a similar issue.
I have a 2009 puma.
Sometimes the dials do not reset when I turn off the ignition. The fuel gauge, temp gauge will stay in their position as if the ignition is on and the rev counter will sit at c. 1000 rpm

By cycling the ignition once or twice they will reset

I did lose all dials once when driving and the defender went to limp mode.

Would you advise sending the cluster in or could it be something else?

Thanks

Ps my profile says I'm in South Africa but I am back in the UK now

Multi plug on the back is fitted correctly?

No chaffing anywhere? Cheers

You don't have the permanent 12V supply to the cluster, so the cluster loses power instantly when ignition switch off and is "frozen".

Normally, the cluster has permanent 12V power and can gracefully park the needles when ignition switched off.

Check fuse 30 which supplies permanent 12V to pin 1 of the cluster (purple+brown wire).
