Re-callibrate esc/dsc on puma 2015
Hi, I've just refurbished my 2015 Pumas wiper assembly as they decided to seize after 9 years on the first day of a 2 and a half week roadie in the South Island of NZ. I've put her all together and everything was working perfectly except the ESC/DSC light was lit on my dash the whole time after putting her back together. I tried to adjust the steering wheel slightly to fix it and now whenever I start moving in first the car activates ESC/DSC for the first few seconds and shudders badly.

I've searched through many a forum but I cannot seem to find any information on how to fix this. From what I have found the steering angle sensor is in the steering wheel cowl but after that it's been a dead end. I'm just a 17 year old with more confidence than brains when it comes to these things and was hoping that someone would have an idea of how to fix it without me having to take it to the professionals.

Unfortunately you will need a specialist diagnostic tool to recalibrate the DSC. The Gap IIDTool can do it, as can dealer diagnostic tools.

What you have done in removing the steering wheel, and no doubt the wiper, light and indicator module to pull the dash forward is disturb the steering angle sensor.

This video explains all. The unit on the left with the blue plastic ring is the ring non DSC Puma owners see when removing the steering wheel. The unit on the right with the grey plastic ring is for DSC Puma’s. You will see the grey plastic ring when you remove the wheel. That grey ring is used to indicate the steering wheel position.

Hang on, if it's "just" the steering wheel sensor I've recently read a thread about a way to set it without a diagnostic tool - can't remember where or how exactly :-/ Something about turning it all the way to one side and then... (?)

I read something similar, will see if I can find it. However I’m pretty sure you still needed a Nanocom to read the sensor value, then adjust the sensor ring to match a full left, then full right lock.

I didn’t find that thread but I kind of figured the same thing except I couldn’t find the middle even with 30 half turns from the right lock back to the left Sad I’ll have to take it to the shop or find someone with a OBD2 reader. At least with the turns I managed to get it to a point that it doesn’t try use abs whenever I am in first.

Well found Andy, looks like macfank and I remembered bits of the topic, I.e with and without the Nanocom, and with the gap IIDTool , noting that BAS use a version of that tool for their Remote Remap Control tool Very Happy
