90 rear folding seats, replacement nuts and bolts
Took a huge amount of effort and PlusGas to get these all off and the nuts on the underside got stuck in the socket multiple times. Can anyone tell me what spec replacement nuts (with built in washers?) I need to replace them? Bolts would be great too but they seem less of a state. Thanks!

I thought all seat nuts are welded to the stiffener plate. As I recall only flange nuts on the seat belt brackets, M8s. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

The bolts from the seat frame went through the wheel arch and had these nuts on the other side ( see photos which seem to be in my gallery)[/img]

I just replaced my rear seats and the nuts are indeed welded to the body, at least on mine I only had to use a Torx bit inside the cabin to get all the fixes out.

I ordered new hardware and fixes as needed directly from LR.

Good luck

Thanks - am so confused! My seat hinge points have bolts welded to the fixing points which could through the tub into the arches. And there’s no way they were coming out without removing the nuts in the arches. I also can’t find this in the parts pictures though.

They look exactly like these- but I can’t find an official part: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171942808926?va...gXEALw_wcB

And this refers to the nuts on the underside… so I’m not totally crazy: https://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defe...seats.html

Could they be aftermarket seats? What year is your Defender, and do you have the stepped tub? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

2015 my. I don’t think they’re aftermarket- it’s registered as a station wagon xs. And not a stepped tub

It is actually very straightforward: There are indeed 2 nuts on each side to be removed from the wheel arch. All the others are the torx bolts that were mentioned and that you can remove from the inside.

After removing the lower attachmens and the seats I put back all the torx bolts to close these holes and use some (M13?) bolts I had lying around with plastic washers in the remaining holes to close them.

I have the seats out and made some pictures. Will upload them later today.

Exactly the setup I have. I can’t find the parts for the nuts on the underside though. Have replaced with flanged stainless steel for now as the old ones were a mess and not holding.
