More DC100 bashing...
http://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/11/land-...-defender/

Again, overwhelmingly negative commentary, and I don't believe for a second these people are all "old-fashioned farmers or mud-pluggers". Landrover you are on the wrong track, time has come to admit it. Oh and note that McGovern is quoted as saying this thing WILL go into production.

I also saw a photo of what looked like an in-the-metal lwb version, but can't find a source for it. 2011 110 USW

Oh dear the battle is lost before it has begun by the sounds of it.

Think it is jsut going to be made to apeal to people who think the Beckhams are English royality Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I don't think it looks horrible or anything but it need to be practical and a work vehicle not a posser truck with all looks and not ground clearance.

Land Rover has been telling us since 1999 that they have to get this right first time. Well FAIL!

The article concludes nicely:

It’s all very cool. It’s all very modern. And it’s so unfortunate that it’s all contained within a vehicle that looks like the Honda Element, when Landie could have just as easily packed it all into, well, the Defender.

The last time I was talking to a farmer he said the one thing he needed in his Defender was an 8 speed automatic gearbox and underwater terrain spotter Rolling Eyes

It's actually depressing when you see pictures like this...

...and you know that even though it never will (unless your AndrewS Wink ) your Defender could do that, I just can't see the DC100 doing the same.

I am very friendly with the owner of a garage that sells Oriental 4x4s, he is a maindealer. Each year I bring turf home in a trailer from the bog with the Defender. He pays someone with a tractor and trailer to get his out. I asked him why and he replied "It's a bit rough in there" Enough said. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Fortunately the design was updated somewhat for production.

Although the arguments about whether or not it's a "Defender" still persist four years after the 2020 launch.

No arugements. It's not a Defender, it's a Disco 6. Monsieur Le Grenadier

I don't get why people think the Defender is a Discovery replacement. It isn't in any shape or form.

I've just sold my Defender to go back to a D4, my fifth. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

I think t is because public wanted a Disco 5 and din't like what it offered, hence why LR are deleting it next year..

now the New Defender is what the old Disco 4 people want now.

I agree with your limitations on the rear and load space, my old FL2, which I still have, is better that my current New Defender 110.
