As they are a narrow 'ish tyre I would probably go for Zu's as they are 7" but with a bit of offset compared to stock wheels Andy

Heres mine, 2007 90 XS,
Wheels - 16x8 ET-00 Silverline Black Modular Steels Tyres - 285/75/16 BFG All Terrain Suspension - Alive Tuning Sports Springs, -1.5" front and -1" rear (love it or hate it) Very little to no rubbing, only when both rear springs have a hard impact simultaneously. No damage to arches at all and no rubbing on full lock. IMO the best fitting wheel/tyre combo on a defender bar the twisted 18" with 285s But for a total of around £700, not bad Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge And when I had half a ton of wood pellets in the back. Think you would struggle off road with that setup as at any sort of decent articulation the tyres are gonna foul the arches Andy

I know it is certainly not for heavy off roading, but when only one side is loaded the tyres slot in under the arches nicely. I might have time to upload a picture of the articulation at the weekend, there's more clearance than you would expect. Anyway there's virtually nowhere to any serious off road driving around mine anyway.

Glad I didn't do that to mine, sorry but it just looks all wrong and out of proportion, the tyres look too big and lowering the suspension just doesn't suit it with 285's - but hey it's your truck so what I think doesn't matter
If you lowered the suspension for on road handling 235/70/16 would offer far better on road handling and performance than 285's |

265 75 16 BFG ko AT and black 16x7 modulars et08 265 75 16 Cooper STT and matt black 16x7 ZU alloys et11 Shame they don't stick another 10mm? But still look great! Coopers are 35mm taller and 30mm wider than my dads BFG KM2's in 265 and my old BFG ko AT's, the same size tyres aren't the same size Last edited by Defender LAF on 26th Oct 2014 9:25pm. I have also noticed this - size for size the BFG's are smaller, when i compared them with Goodyears, Cooper and General, the BFG's were always narrower and less diameter.

Same when you compare Mickey Thompsons with BFG . The BFG always seem squarer throughout their width. www.td5.org
