I use two jacks, a sealey high lift 3 ton jack that I use with their x137 cross beam adapter when jacking the axle to keep vehicle level. Plus a low profile Arcan 3 ton trolly jack for the defender and other vehicles.
The most robust jack is the Arcan, which has worked with zero issues over 20 years, the sealey needed new seals after 5 years, however I can’t use the cross beam adapter with the Arcan , hence have two jacks for home use. I got my Arcan from costco a great price then, they still sell the 2.750 ton one at a reasonable price. Both are reasonably big and heavy ( a bit like me  ) but ideal for the defender.
But if you want the ultimate defender jack, go for the one blackwolf has....I bet he will show you a pic, if he spots this topic, it’s a thing of beauty. I have an Omega 28030-PU, once bought in the UK. It is the usual 3 ton jack but after many years still perfect. What I like about it and why I bought it is that it has PU (poly urethane?) wheels which makes riding it around so much nicer and quieter.

I bought a Halfords advanced trolley jack a few years ago it's brilliant as it has a foot pump aswell and its quick to lift and will lift Defenders and Discoveries off the ground easily aswell as get under low cars if needed. But the best bit is it has Polyurethane wheels so it's alot quieter and doesn't sound like a 747 taking off when you move it 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

This has to be one of the best value jacks about at the moment.
I got it for my L322 and it didn't break a sweat lifting 2.7 tonnes of Range Rover. I'm 99% sure its made by Arcan (who make the costco ones) as I have a 2.5 tonne Arcan jack and the fittings are the same as is a few of the parts. https://www.halfords.com/tools/garage-work...63118.html |

Ooo this is like tool porn!
Like others, I have 2.. The Clarke 3t (had for 15+) years, also used with a Sealey Cross Beam adapter for that level lift.. - “the Daddy” And… I have a beautiful Blue Point SNX2ALTJ Aluminium Floor Jack.. It’s a quick lift and is just fab.. bought in a moment of eBay weakness as the Clarke refused to fit under my RIP’d Z3   Shafski

Bought a 3ton Sealey jack late 90s early 00s and still using it now. It did start leaking from the pumping piston in the early years which the official seal kit failed to fix. I tried a second time with quality o-rings from work (I work in the semiconductor industry so everything is top quality ISO traceable) and it has worked perfectly ever since.
Perfect jack, just about low enough for 'normal' cars but also easily man enough to lift a tall Landrover or loaded 3.5T van. |
