Coolant level alarm.
After a recent near miss where I'd lost a fair bit coolant with a dodgy fitted clip I thought I'd fit an alarm..
Got one that fits into the top hose, and fitting is straight fwd.. The fiddly bit is running the wires..
It a audible wit a visual flashing led as well... Facility to power a relay when it actuated.. I didn't use that..
Its a simple float type on off switch, and has a 20sec delay before alarming..
The highest point on my top hose is close to a 90deg bend and I did wonder if turbulence might be an issue but went ahead and fitted it there..
On the test drive I found out it works🙈🤣
As I'd managed not to tighten a clip..
About 3 miles into the drive it alarmed, and after a bit swearing and muttering I thankfully pulled in to find coolant all over..
You can see the offending llip in the photo I took of the install🙄😩..

While I had the coolant drained I fitted an alloy expansion tank as well👍

I'll see how it all goes👍

Love the expansion tank and red hoses. Very smart.

What are those hose buffers you you have fitted. Like those too... Thumbs Up

Hi G... The buffers are standard fit on the hoses as far as I know... Certainly wasn't me who put them on but they prevent the hoses rubbing were there is contact, and it's tight down that side with a right nest if hoses😩
The one fitted to the top hose where I put the sensor was the reason for me little mishap.. I had actually installed it well enough but realised I'd left the rubber buffer off so undid that clip and fitted the buffer... But forgot to tighten the clip again😩
