Its a Defender and someone has customized it. We don't know what's going on with a random wire, unraveling the shoddy workmanship of all the previous owners is part of the joy of owning a defender.

Best to identify the circuits concerned and then you’ll be 90% sure as to where to look the other end and any items attached to it or and wiring added to that circuit.
