Some companies shoot themselves in the foot, JLR went straight for the satsuma, plastic bag, rope then a headshot.
It’s not poor, it’s now pathetic. |

My solution was to keep my LR4 as backup

lf it's only minor damage and the Defender is still drivable, just keep it until the parts come in to stock. l would feel safer not leaving it in a repair shop for months anyway.
l know it's not great with a brand new vehicle. But at least you caught the third party. Mostly they drive off and don't leave their details. |

Just don't take it to a dealership built on a notoriously flood-susceptible area who allows it to be submerged to become a total loss at your expense whilst you wait for 12 months or more for parts. It has been reported that remarkably the dealer appears to have had time to move its own vehicles away from the rising waters but not its customers' vehicles.

@thedoctorsgarage on YT has had his D5 stuck at his dealer for 6 months now, waiting for a part. It's hard to believe a major manufacturer such as JLR could have this parts fiasco so badly. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S
Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2 Insta: wizzardprang |

l assume the parts supply issues will eventually sort themselves out, Land Rover aren't the only company having parts supply issues.
For instance The waiting list for new Defenders is slowly reducing and this should result in better parts availability as production catches up with demand. Various manufacturers having similar issues with spare parts. VW, Mercedes, Fiat, Jeep and BMW mentioned in this article. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/jul...ales-first |
