As Mike says there are a lot of them out there.

Unfortunately the Southdown ones mentioned by JST are no longer available. Southdown basically stop making 'heavy metal' items a couple of years ago. Reason being that too many people started making things in their garage/at their bosses workshop so not paying real business overheads.

Firstly do you want rock sliders or do you want rock and tree sliders? Tree sliders also know as nerf bars can be used as a step as well.

Declared interest here as most people are aware on this, I am a site sponsor and we do sell rock and tree sliders made by Safari Equip.

I have seen Rock sliders at shows for about half of the price we sell ours at. Then a quick look often shows that the welding and weld splat looks like a chicken has been sick all over them. Often they are just painted or powder coated. Have a look on ebay and you will find them for less the £100.

The rock and tree sliders we sell are like these

They are galvanised prior to powder coated. If you use them you will scratch the paint or powder coating. However these will not rust when you do scratch them!

Yes we do use or abuse our vehicles Whistle Powder coating taken off but galvanisation prevents rusting.

Yes you can bend the Safari Equip ones!

However you will have bent a few other things as well! Such as your chassis, front axle etc. Oh by the way the tyre underneath it is not the spare it is front offside wheel which had been ripped.

So I think I can say we have test driven these rock and tree sliders Whistle Yes we give them a big Thumbs Up

Hi Mike, YOU dare ask me that on a Land Rover forum Razz Rolling with laughter

Got to admire your nerve.

Yes they do. Yes I can supply them but unfortunately we do not stock them.

Just checked it is a rock slider and not a rock and tree slider.

Will check availability tomorrow and see if I can get a photo. Be warned they will not be as cheap as Land Rover ones. You will be looking around the £400 mark As you are aware availability of Land Cruiser parts are not as readily available and with much smaller volume prices are higher.

They also do Front winch bumper, rear bumpers, rear wheel carrier steering guards and extended range fuel tanks.

HTH

Maybe we should ask Martin for a 80 Series forum on here?? Laughing

Just because I no longer have one doesnt mean I cant use the forum Laughing

Iron man ones are half that and pretty good actually, I already have had made front and rear bumpers so am fine for those, they're at the powder coaters at the moment Thumbs Up . The main thing is my left leg no longer aches, but still, I miss my 90.

You have too much knowledge for the forum to lose Mike.

As long as your 80 series is right for you then that is all that matters. Thumbs Up

Must admit I did a quick search for the Ironman ones and could not find them quickly in the UK. Any pointers in the right direction Mike?

Brendan

PS That does not Razz mean I will not take the Michael out of you Mike!

The distributor/importer (and only retailer) of iron man in the UK is west coast 4x4 in southport.

I had a quick look on their website earlier Mike and could not see them.

£200 for rock sliders brought half way around the world is a cheap price. Ironmando have a good rep down under

The O P must be wondering what sort of website he has signed up to Razz

Mike you will have Rostock up some photos of the 80 and mods you have carried out.

Brendan

PS Tolley R + T are some of the best protection you can stick on a Defender even of does not go off road

Their website is in the process of being sorted. They are the importers for all iron man gear - best place to look at it is the iron man australia website, it's all on there, from fridges to bivy bags to springs and shocks (which are excellent)

My 80 has just been resprayed this week. Took it apart, replaced big end bearings, front brake lines, discs, rebuilt front axle, replaced cam belt, wheels and tyres. bumpers will go on next week, winch then thats it.

That sounds familiar!

Barbara is currently trying to sort out our web shop.

However I keep expanding our range of items!
