Yeah I looked into it but could not find only the lid. I will look again, the full box was in the 500 I think.
Edit: might have found one. Just ordered one for 35€, I was gonna change it anyways. If it helps anyone, part number is PHC500070. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD) Last edited by Waka56 on 4th Feb 2024 10:33pm. Edited 2 times in total |

One of the issues is the price yes, expensive, there is the Nugget stuff aftermarket offering too though but again is not cheap. This is why I thought a breaker maybe ideal or someone may have a spare. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Good that you found the lid / top only, I did wonder if it was only avilable as part of a whole assembly which is fairly common of LR to do.
Don’t forget to make sure when you swap over the MAF sensor to observe its directional arrow of air flow. ![]() ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Box is fitted, looks good...... But I managed to break the coolant hose
![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge From what I checked from work, costs in the 140€ to replace, I'll check for other options, I guess the old plastic is really fragile, might not be bad to change anyways, I only removed it from the clip.. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD) |

I think that’s the coolant overflow hose, though not 100% sure.
And yes, probably brittle due to age and temperature over time. Has the lid made a difference, guess you can’t tell yet with the hose. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Overflow means it's coming back from radiator to the box other? I'll fix it cheap first if possible tomorrow with something like this

Okey, I replaced the hose... No difference with the new airbox lid.. At least I know there is no air leak there, can't harm.. Still rattling once engine warms up and power loss as soon as I hit the motorway. I'll check the wires now I guess.. And the EGR once I have enough time. (Still no noise coming from it when I turn off the car). Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

Would you say the power loss is most noticed in 5th or 6th gear ? Especially 6th? Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸

Definitly, hardly noticeable when back in the city. 6th becomes useless unless going downhill, 5th helps to a certain point. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

So would you say you find power drops off say in 6th under any kind of load and you have to drop back down to 5th?
If so, then, it may need the VCV replacing which isn’t very expensive. It’s one of those unusual faults that doesn’t show up on any fault logs. These are often some of the things that do it, VCV, MAP or MAF, EGR stuck open or closed, open being worse than closed. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
