Yes, at last! Too late for me but they will sell loads of these in the U.K. lt's still quite expensive (l priced one up with the absolute minimum options and it came to £67,000 including VAT)
The equivalent Defender 110 Commercial came to £64,000 So not much in it. At least now there's a choice. When l bought my Defender Commercial back in 2022 the equivalent Grenadier would have cost me effectively £25,000 more. Now the difference is a lot smaller and there are genuinely two choices for Commercial Vehicle buyers who want a vehicle like this. |

I have seen one, a couple around, but regularity pass one parked up.
I think they look quite good, a little more traditional and utility than the new Def. Though better priced than the new Def I still think the prices are extraordinary. Saw plenty at Badminton Horse Trials yesterday- mainly on course as support vehicles, assume Ineos provided them FOC; I can get used to the way they look - I just feel they lack LR’s years of accumulated empirical knowledge that no amount of computer simulation can short cut (though sometimes I feel LR have forgotten much of what they know)

Except the Ineos was designed and engineered by MB Tech and Magna. The best suppliers in the industry were chosen to engineer and supply the components. Engines, BMW. Gearbox, ZF. Transfer box, Tremec. Etc.

I don’t doubt Ineos have bought in industry leading expertise and components. During BMW’s ownership of LR they mined the accumulation of data on spring and damper settings, gear ratios, nvh, etc as part of the development process for the X5- stuff that component suppliers wouldn’t have in depth knowledge of. Few of that generation of engineers remain at JLR, it’s all lifestyle, marketing and product alignment now, even the iconic green oval has been put on gardening leave

The Grenadier remains an expensive option, with the base model 2-seat "Commercial" at £65,000.
Although businesses could reclaim the VAT and tax, making it more affordable. The Defender "Commercial" has also crept up in price. Mine was £47,000 (including about £3,500 of options) when l ordered it but by the time l took delivery it was £54,500. The cheapest one is now £57,000 without options, so £60,000 in the specification l ordered. |
