Bass Buzz - Rear 3/4 Interior Panels - Defender 90
HI Guys
Another question.

I am sorting interior rattles on my new to me D300 90...

It has a great music system but when turned up I get the occasional bass buzz / rattle from the low frequencies on the rear 3/4 interior panels.

Has anyone found a fix for this.

Surely the car should be able to handle the factory music system?

I am thinking I could add some anti rattle tape / felt at the edges of the panels or take the panels off and add some dynamat if I really have to.

Would rather not take the panels off if I don't have to.

Any fix ideas would be great.

Thank you

Not sure if this might be an issue but is the rear tray strapped down with the small side straps? Mine wasn't, not that I had noticed a rattle. But my 90 only has the Meridan system, not the surround.
On a different matter, if yours is a MY24 or MY25, has it got a tray cover and the cover over the jack, or does it have just one that you put on or below the tray?

I think you'll have a job eliminating all the rattles and vibrations. My 90 HT has spent so much time at the dealership trying to get all the rattles and creaks resolved, I'm seriously considering going back to a Disco. They often fix them only for them to reappear after a couple of weeks, I've been told it's had all the panels in the back removed and anti rattle tape applied but there's still no improvement. It's a shame as other than all the creaking and rattling is perfect.

Booked mine in to the dealer for rattles now.

It is under warranty so they can have a try first.

If they don't fix the problem I will pull the panels of myself add anti rattle tape and Dynamat.

Had a few quotes from specialist sound deadening companies but they want a min of £1500
for the work.

I am pretty sure I can do the same with a few Powerful UK youtube videos and £150 of Dynamat

To be honest they should come out of the Factory with no rattles and able to handle the installed sound system

Thank you

I had an annoying bass rattle in the driver's door of my 110. Spent years trying to find the culprit and turns out it was the piece of felt behind the speaker grille that was fluttering around. I applied some Tesa tape to the honeycomb to secure the felt and the problem went away. I found it out after I installed Dynamat everywhere and applying silicone around the speaker grille tabs.

You can see some of the Dynamat on the inner door panel. I put it where I could without covering up any wires etc. I also put it along the backside of the door panel to help make the cabin a bit quieter. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟏𝟎 𝐒 𝐏𝟑𝟎𝟎 (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)

No, I didn't. I have a 110, so all speakers are in the doors. Nor did I put any Dynamat behind the panels in the cargo area. Just in the doors and it made a noticeable difference. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟏𝟎 𝐒 𝐏𝟑𝟎𝟎 (Pangea Green over Acorn/Lunar)
