BBUS Alarm Battery backup unit- Part codes
Hi, I am looking to add a BBUS to my 2012 land rover defender xs does anyone know if it would have ever come with one? It has the wire behind the headlight for it.
I know BBUS's have not been made for sometime now so I am looking to find a few to how shall I put this "not too destructively take apart" and find a way of doing it so I can fit new cells its something a lot of members would defiantly want if I can work out a way of doing it.
I have done it on several laptop battery packs over the years even with the potting compound and spot welding needed to fit the new cells so if anyone want to donate a dead unit please let me know.

Could someone let me know which part codes are the correct I have seen a few different version of this list

AMR4974 fitted to 1996-1998
YWK100130 fitted 1999-2007
YWK100131 fitted 2007
LR012194 fitted 2008
LR014059 fitted 2009-2012
LR044570 - latest

I found one on ebay at a crazy price and its code is 3h12 19g229 ac but I cant find any reference as to what that would fit

Thanks in advance

My 2012, not XS, but with a few extras, came with a BBUS. So my guess is that an XS should have had it.

Will be interesting to see how you replace the battery. Link to a similar attempt: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic65058.html 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

By 2012 an XS would normally have had one, and if it left the factory without one it would not have the correct wing harness for one. TD5 vehicles had the connector whether or not a BBUS was fitted, but Pumas had a value-engineered harness without the connector unless a BBUS was fitted.

My land rover was stolen at one point in its life so while I could see the connector for the alarm battery backup I could not see the unit with the headlight out. Should it be very easy to see with it out? Who ever stole the car did not remove anything from it more disable or unplug things

If it is in the factory location it should be visible with the bonnet open, look forward of the screen wash reservoir. It's a black cube with a single connector.

If a BBUS wasn't fitted at the factory there should be a simple alarm sounder horn there instead (a separate horn to the main vehicle horns).

Be aware that most sensible folk relocate the BBUS to somewhere where it can't be accessed without opening the bonnet. If yours has been stolen and recovered someone may have moved it.

That is interesting I did not know they fitted a simple sounder don't suppose you know a part code?

I will have another look I thought it was odd the connect just floating around loose behind the passenger headlamp

Not seen many pictures of them installed
