I've never understood ppl who buy 4x4s and then don't go off-road for fear of scratching the paint - it's a bit like saying you won't do sports because you fear getting injured. ![]() FFS, put some PPF on it and go off-roading ![]() 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged ![]() ![]() Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Most people who buy the new Defender have no intention of ever going off road. The nearest they come to it is a field at the local horse trials.
lt's the idea that they could do if they wanted. |

Tis true, many people, esp in the UK will never take their 4x4 off road. But that isn't what I was saying. I was saying it feels wrong to potentially scratch the RR up by taking it down a narrow lane for example. But I'd have no reservations taking the Ninety, despite the brutal realty that the Ninety is worth considerably more. I never said I don't off road my Range Rover.... quite the opposite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But I'm more comfortable taking the Ninety to places like this: ![]() |

Went off the beaten track with mine today, pothole repairs on the road causing lengthy tailbacks. Sat nav showing that there was a road along the side of the golf range which leads to a farm, road continues on, well I say road, ho lee fuk, the tarmac ended and the massive mud filled craters began, there was a point when I thought perhaps I should’ve ticked the box for air suspension. Eventually brought me out to a housing scheme. Always wondered where that road went!
Mud flaps done a good job of keeping the Defender clean, so not too much cleaning to be done. ![]() Click image to enlarge 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue |

As i said - its not scratches that are the problem (although they do get me and most of mine is PPF'd) its actual damage like a new door.
That said i have my own farm and my defender has done some green lanes and frequently drives in fields etc Mike |

I've been green laning in all my LRs, including my 2020 Defender. I've followed my mates in their 90TD5 and D3 into a few tricky sections which necessitated a spotter and even had my Defender licked by a cow
