I wasn't really meaning the screen. More the entire traction system. Any Disco2 owner will be familiar with the 3 Amigos error. Which turns most D2's into having all the off road ability of a milk float. If the traction control or centre diff control stops working on a new Defender, say to a sensor or wiring issue. It would be pretty useless in most off road situations and would end up 1wd, just like a D2 does with the 3 Amigos. Chances of this happening now are probably pretty remote. Although LR products have suffered electronic niggles in the past. The risk is in say 15-20 years time when they become more affordable used. But also older and likely less well maintained. |

Definitely a problem. I always had to use a LR/RR (mine were mainly RR's up to now - I still see them all as LR's) for a while before venturing where I knew I'd potentially cause damage. LR's waiting time for the delivery of a new D250 or 300 110 solved that issue for me last winter. I bought a 'slightly' damaged but nearly new D250 110 (609kms..) rather than waiting nearly a year. As it's been pre-damaged I won't have any worries this time. BTW, that tree leans nearly 35° naturally. Very windy there. RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr, P38, and 2 L322s, 2 FL1s and a L663 on the way |

I have a few scratches after all my trips into the deep bush but in all honesty I think the defender has a tougher paint than most vehicles. I know that sounds strange but I own a few hilux's for my rental business and those things scratch if you look at them sideways. The defender has a few scratches but 99% buff out with a light polish.
I agree with Moo, use it for what you bought it. If you want a show car dont go off road. Nice trees in Scotland... The Defender is extremely capable even when towing. I recently crossed the Runde river in Southern Zimbabwe, which was about 500mm deep and about 200meters wide, with a very sandy exit and about a 1.5 meter climb out of the water while fully loaded and towing a very heavy off road caravan. I was also too lazy to deflate tyres. The Defender did it with ease thankfully, as I saw about 15 crocodiles lurking close by The defender is more capable than any requirements ive had so far. Have you seen where I took it in my latest video? We even found Dinosaur footprints believe it or not. What a machine! Now that's using the Defender for what's it was designed to do.
Most don't see this kind of use, little chance of seeing any crocs in Waitrose car parks. l can imagine the crocs talking "ls that one of those new Defenders" "Yeah, 900 mm wading depth on them" "Not like some 4x4's. We had a group come through the river last month in Jeeps. Two of them broke down in the water, hardly had to move from here, it was like breakfast in bed" |

Good Spot! Yes, that's my Defender! Thanks for the post. I wondered how high the stream was. I was focusing on driving rather than the wade sensing on the screen! BTW, anyone wondering about the leaning tree, blame my wife. I was driving! |

You're welcome. Super lane that below the dam. I have not done it in a while but I remember it being rocky and quite slippery when wet. |
