2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
Puma 110 Front Brake Calipers
Grateful for some help and clarification of front brake calipers please. I have a 2015 110 XS and I need to change my front pair out due to one seized piston on either side. Can refurb these at a later date. That is the easy bit! When I check the LR on-line parts, the replacement calipers are shown to be LR061253 and LR061254. These are like hens teeth and cost a second mortgage! Delving a little more, I see that the earlier PNs are SEB500460 (G suffix for the AP version) and SEB500470 (again G suffix for the AP version). Please would someone tell me what the difference is between these 2 sets of PNs. Looking at the attachment points on the swivel pin housing nothing has changed there since the year dot. Therefore, my logic says that I can fit the SEB500460G and SEB500470G PNs without any problem. Please tell me if I am missing something.
Thanks in advance

Oh hang on do you mean the difference between the part numbers... LR were excellent at superseding parts but not really changing them at all. The front brake calipers are a case in point. The vented calipers are the same right through the Defender range from, as you say, year dot through to the end of production. A side of that is the pads are the same as well.

Sorry my explanation was not clear. I would like to understand the difference, if any, between LR061253 and SEB500460, and LR061254 and SEB500470.

I think you have answered my question in your other reply and it looks like my logic was OK!

James - Many thanks. Looks like the part numbers change only to protect the profit margins!!

Looking at the calipers I am getting the distinctive impression that the difference between vented and non vented disc is a space piece fitted between the two halves. So really even they are the same no?

Yes they are the same. Just the addition of the spacer and gallery seals.
