The soft close rear door is surprisingly useful when your boot is packed full of luggage (as mine often is in my 90!) and you need to avoid anything falling out.

Ditto, but I prefer the 'slam' approach. Laughing

Looks like that could be part of the cars structure. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

No, it looks to me like a hinge assembly bolted to the seat base and then into the floor. The question for retro fit seems to me to be whether captive nuts are in the floor at that location in pre MY24 cars.

where is the rear rack you have from?

I used to have similar on my D4 and it was brilliant.

Have neither on mine and can’t say it bugs me. If someone wants my fuel LRs locking flap ain’t going to stop them and soft close tailgate, never got the point of it, it doesn’t have soft close doors.
Neither did the Benz W124 estate but the soft close tailgate was a really nice feature

I got it from 4x4 Overland. It's the 50mm version. It lifts it a bit higher. It's about a 10 min instal. Great bit of kit that increases the usable boot space significantly.

First post - picked up wife’s new 90 yesterday after some grief with InControl config which meant it was looking like we wouldn’t be able to take delivery. @colinsb is that the storage box I can see that effectively gives you a full flat floor when seats are down. We’ve been told they aren’t coming through from LR yet.

Thanks

John
