I had the same issue with my 2010 110 USW. Refused to renew as it is a 'commercial vehicle'. It is used as a car, covers about 3k pa.
Answer, I insured it on van insurance, private use. The insurer recognised it from a list (try to explain to mainstream insurer what a USWis)....... It gave options including roof racks, tow bars, winch etc all from a pick list (refreshing) Bottom line I saved £100 on my renewal as well. Fully comp with NCB protected. Probably worth a look 1984 One-Ten CSW 2010 XS USW (sold) 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

I think all insurance is going up and being more pciky who they'll cover.
You should try forum sponsors A-Plan, although from recent posts they're not immune to the above issue either. Hey Gal,
My circumstances regarding claims and accidents are the same as yours. My vehicle is a 90CSW and insured fully comp with zero voluntary excess. I must add we are both OVER 50 so qualify for Saga Ins Click image to enlarge 04' 90 Td5 CSW.. |

Our multi car insurance is up for renewal. We are with Ford Insure, out renewal went for £700 to £1300 for the year.
This included two claims actually dropping off, not our faults, but on the record. I’ve shopped around and have managed to negotiate down a few places but still well over last years price. A Plan were lovely to deal with but quoted me basically £1000 just for my defender. |

Thanks to everyone for your replies so far. Just to make things clear, I'm 53y/o and my wife is 48y/o. These cars have gone up in value so I'm estimating that their combined value would be circa £80k. (The 110 has 23k miles and the 90 only has 12k miles). So I'm not oblivious to their (apparent) market value - ridiculous though that is, considering how these things are nailed together! My total renewal for last year was £370. They're asking me for £615 this year - after no claims, nothing. I know that some might say that this is a very reasonable price to insure both cars but it's almost a 100% relative increase in price since last year. The insurer is currently LV. |
