it must have a full service history for starters,

Considering the youngest Td5s are nearly 7 years old now that could be quite a rarity.

Mines a 1999 model and had Full Land Rover service history up until 2 years ago!

I bought mine, an '04 110 SW,from http://www.exmod.co.uk/index.html. who I found to be very helpful and reasonable both in terms of price, fixing things prior to purchase which I identified, as well as providing a full service and good warranty. There was absolutely no pressure upon me to buy and I was allowed as much time as I wanted to look over the vehicle unaccompanied, as I wanted.

If you are considering using an independent specialist I suggets you consider the following:

be prepared to travel. Good deals, with good dealers, are available, but they're not on every street corner.
I drove a 240 mile round trip to look at the one I eventually bought.

be prepared to wait. A good dealer will have a reasonable turnover in vehicles and although they may not have just what you want at the time, don't compromise on what you're looking for (Providing you're being realistic).

If they don't have what you're after, don't be afraid of asking them to keep an eye out for you.I did this with a couple of dealers and they would ring me if they knew they had a vehicle due in which might be of interest. It cost me nothing.

Be clear on what vehicle you want and what spec are essential. For example, you said your sister needs a 110. Would that be 12, 11 or 9 seater? Would a van conversion with seats meet her needs? Is she looking for top spec ie. electric windows, a/c etc. If a van is OK she will need to set aside some of her budget to pay for the conversion.

Hope this helps
