Hi, I've just had an issue on the motorway where the engine died, seemed like a fuel issue. Got it restarted after pulling and re-seating the red connector to the ECU. When I got home I removed and cleaned the back and red connectors to the ECU just in case this was the original issue.
However, on restarting I now have a red light on, in the speedo (never seen this before) when the ignition is turned on. Also after a few seconds of normal glow plug light and engine light (amber) I get a red engine light with a lightening strike across it and the engine wont turn. I also heard the horn toot twice but this hasn't happen again (Toot toot) My Nanocomm says the ECU is immobilised. I have disconnected the battery to "reset" things, but the fault remains. Any ideas? I believe you need the vehicles Emergency Key Access Code (EKA) to reset the immobilised ECU. It should be a 4 digit code supplied with your manuals. If you do not have the code you can buy it back online.
It is entered through the turning of the drivers door key, like a safe lock one digit at a time. Best I can do. EDIT: See this thread for more info https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28472-30.html |

GEOBLOKE, you are a star. I saw the codes in the Nanocomm but didn't know what they were for, until now!! Thanks again I'm up and running Mike
