Blue smoke on initial start up.
1992 200 tdi, original engine, 186,700 miles.
Noticed recently lots of blue smoke on start up. Clears once speeding up. If I stop and start later it's just the usual puff of black smoke.Runs and accelerates as normal. Any ideas? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Have you had the intercooler to manifold pipe off to see if you have a build up of oil coming up from the intercooler then ending up in the combustion cycle?

If so could be worth removing the intercooler plus the in and outlet pipe and giving it all a clean out

With that mileage it may not have been done prior to you getting the vehicle.

Then you can normally get an aerosol product that you blast into the inlet manifold to clean that out, I can’t remember the name.

Hope that helps in some way.

I agree with Dinnu, a top end overall would probably do wonders at the age a mileage. They’re a really easy lump to work on.
