Driver door water ingress

My 2003 defender driver door has Ingress of water thru the roof lining at the top corner, I’ve visually checked the door seal it seems ok, any ideas? replace the door seal?

Quite common. Could be any number of sources.

Do have a look for an hairline crack externally where the roof meets the gutter - a useful temporary fix there is the humorously named Capt. Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure.

For me, it was the seam where the horizontal part of the roof meets the sloping part above the front seats. Captain Tollys worked for this issue.

It may be worth checking the join where the windscreen meets the roof and the top corners where the windscreen, roof and leading edge of the front doors all congregate behind the door seal. Sikaflex works well for the former and dum-dum putty behind the seal for the latter

Thanks all sorted, I used silicone as a temporary fix, which did the job, I have a similar issue although no leaks, where the roof meets the poly glass panelling (van type) there is a black bead, jointing, gasket? It runs around the full body at the top also at the bottom of the panelling where it joins the upper bodywork, it’s about 3 mm wide both are black in colour, unfortunately they are breaking down in some areas.
Do you know what this material is? And is it purchase part?
