Key fob battery replacement
I did not get the owner's manual when I got my Defender.

I think the key fob battery is getting low.
What type of battery does it take?
How do I open the fob without breaking it to replace the battery?

What age Defender and what style of fob.
I’ve just done my 2009 two button fob, just take it off the ring and prise the two parts apart. 3v battery will have a battery number on it, can’t remember what mine was.
Swap battery, snap it back together and off you go.

If you have a two-button 'Lucas' style fob, part no. YWX101200 (2007-?2014) it's a CR2032 (3 volt). You open the fob by prising apart at the end where the key ring attaches. There is supposedly a procedure, set out in a post somewhere on here, but mine (2008) has never cared if I change the battery far from the vehicle without telling the alarm ECU what I am about to do... occasionally I have to realign fob and vehicle by pressing the button multiple times after the change.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out and swapped in a new battery, I can now zap with confidence.
