I met a women last week whose husband has just taken on a dealership for the ORA brand, fully electric mid range car. She was driving one.

Recent press reported these Chinese vehicle are 'Data Capture' devices ?? beaming information back to China ??

Who knows ?

Same as their self fitting alarm systems. You have to sign into a cloud account that they have access to.

Your data will not be private.

If you look up Chinese EV fires i am guessing that if charging at home, get a very long cable to keep it away from your house.

Chinese manufactures are heavily subsidised for completing vehicle builds - at the costs of quality and even actual sales.

Feels like a chinese invasion, my facebook feed is full of adverts for chinese cars (faux-MG, ORA etc) - Censored me off. chinese junk imo. of course they are cheaper, it's a communist state, they can dictate the prices as they please! they can ignore environmental controls, reduce r&d costs by copying and infringing copyright without reprisal, health and safety and anything else...of course they are cheap!

I'm in Dubai just now, and watching quite a few different news channels, and speaking to people of different nationalities.

The beat here is that we're shaping up for some significant unrest, as china/russia/n korea improve their bonding and face-up against america and europe, probably starting by an escalation in ukraine, and china's ambitions in taiwan.

communists vs capitalists...

The BBC and other UK news channels give us a very sheltered (woke) view of the planet! Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Seems they already have a UK presence, based in Kent.
