Scotland 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 HT Zambezi Silver
I've had a few D2's over the last ten years or so. All at the more budget end of the market as second work vehicles. Five and seven seaters, varying specs, all Td5's. I really liked them, good cars, comfortable to drive on long and short journeys and capable of towing and off-road work.

All the 7 seaters we've had have had forward facing seats in the very back. You do lose most of the boot space when the seats are down and they're only really suitable for kids.

Never had one with ACE, but have had two with the ACE removed. Both drove fine, but maybe if I'd had the ACE to begin with I'd have missed it? Had air-bags and coils, no great difference between the two in my opinion, air bags can burst quite dramatically but are easily replaced.

I've moved away from Disco 2's now as they are all of a certain age, the youngest being almost 20 years old. At that point you need to be looking after it carefully and on top any maintenance, it's fair to say that my vehicles don't have an easy life. They're still good cars, but only if you're prepared to spend your time fettling and tinkering in the garage to keep them that way.

I have a D2 that i use as shoot/dog/builder/towing bus, i've had it 3 years and have put over 10k on it and most of them will of been with a trailer. being an ES premium i have ACE and air, both work, both great and worth having but both have needed work.

new pipe for the ace and 2 x new bags for the air along with some wiring needed to fix pump fault.

i love the car as its comfy and plods on, i compare it to the 300tdi D1's i had over 10 years ago.

worth having but would search for a beauty of one if you can.

i've also put a 1/4 chassis on mine

Looking at this thread there is obviously still lots of enthusiasm for the D2 (myself included) and good luck to the op in finding a good one if they decide to in the end.

I do think these are the next collectible Land Rover, being as they blend old school with newer tech making a unique vehicle and so different to what LR make now, in a good way! .

Thanks all for your replies. It’s amazing to see the energy everyone has for these cars! Hopefully I’ll find one soon to share with you all.
Cheers Ed.
