I'm not sure I see what makes it "interesting" (apart from the odd mismatch of parts)!
It looks in need of some love. |

It certainly does need some love. If you send it up this way I’ll do my best…
It looks like the owner is in the process of putting the headlights where they ought to be (not based on the age/model - based on my personal preference). |

I think it is a very late 2a, lights should be in the wings, but was very common at one time to have two sets of headlights one pr in the wings and another I the earlier grill panel.

Yes I’m in the Series 2 Club and there are quite a few that are bi-illuminated 🤪 |

My memory tells me that the lights moved to the wings in 1968 but still with a wire mesh grill. The plastic grill arrived with the S3.
If so the wings are correct and the radiator panel isn't, which is a little unusual. |

Likely to be original, I'd think.

My understanding was the 2.6 was only available in the 109? Could be wrong though...

It looks to me as though the ‘earlier’ panel is a ‘later’ addition… To be fair, some of us so-called human beings go through phases of trying to make ourselves look older then try to make ourselves look younger |

You're right, but I think it is a 109". What makes you think it is an 88"? The photos are ambiguous, but the one remaining mudflap doesn't look to me as though it is on the cross-member. Is there some other clue I have missed?
I also formally rescind my earlier statement, the ensuing discussion has clearly shown that this vehicle is much more interesting than a superficial examination suggested. Another thing I have just noticed is that there is no PTO hole in the rear crossmember. |
