Daisy the Doublecab
Collected this beauty and love it. So much better to drive than the 90 I had and my dog loves the constant fresh air in the back.

First thing on the list was to change the light surrounds from grey to black...

Panels off and rubbed down...

Then washed, dried and primed...

Rubbed down again and put the black and lacquer on...

And then waited to dry and back on the car...

i'm looking to do a similar mod. When you rubbed it down what did you use? - was it just black plastic underneath as founds on the base spec models?

Tip:

If going silver-> black the. You can make money selling the silver ones and buying new black ones.

Also stops stone chips showing up really obviously! Thumbs Up Cheers, David

I used 800grit wet and dry to rub it down. Took a few hours but prep is the hardest part.

I find the extra weight/length makes the landy more stable and less bouncy on the back end. So I find for a much better drive especially around the Cornish roads where I live.

I couldn't find any black grills/surrounds for a suitable price so the Ł20 in paint suited me. There's 2 Coates of plastic primer, 4 coats of black and 4 coats of lacquer so hopefully won't chip very easily but only time will tell.

I think my time and effort payed off, they turned out pretty well, with only one dog hair trapped in the lacquer Embarassed

Yeah definitely need the space for the dog, he's only 5 months old, might need a 130 by the time he's fully grown.

I've noticed that already with the back on as it has a grill back. Was debating whether to put some drainage holes in there. The back was only off for a bit of fun as that's where the dog goes.

The seals on my tailgate are amazingly un-Land Rover like... I'm still waiting for my tonneau, it filled up to almost a foot deep after a week of no usage with the recent rain, and wasn't leaking from anywhere! Laughing Pete

Today I went for a 150 mile each way journey to get a decent roof rack at a sensible price. Just needs to be painted/anodised black.

What do you guys think? Also what would be better paint or anodising? I could paint it myself for a lot less than anodising I'm guessing. Or powder coat?! So many choices.

But here's a pic of it fitted with spare wheel mounted.
