Why would you want to turn it off?
Mine only does it if if it's very bright such as reversing into the sunlight |

Travelling at mid-winter Dawn and Dusk. I believe my vision is obscured, when dark coloured cars are around me.
I don't want to turn them off permanently, just during certain hours. |

I think most defenders have it - you can see it best on the driver's wingmirror, it automatically darkens most of the mirror to reduce glare from headlights behind. You can still see a small outer layer of non-dimmed glass which helps you know it's switched on. I think you can choose auto dim on/off in the menus, but i could be wrong. |

I must admit .......... I don't really know.
1. I turned ignition on WITHOUT starting engine. Selected headlamps to 'AUTO' 2. I moved centre sun visor to up position. 3. I prayed. Now which one of above worked, or any permutation ????? |

If you lower the centre sun visor this usually activates the dimming procedure. It always does in my car.
I rarely use the centre visor so I never found it an issue to be honest. You could say it was a benefit, allowing you to activate the function when desired when the automated process isn’t kicking in. |

I did a RTN journey to London today.
And YES the centre sun visor does turn on and off the 'LCD' in all three mirrors. If only people knew that !! as for auto turn on-off still haven't worked that out ?? bearing in mind it takes around 8-10 secs to activate. |
