57 plate 2.4 puma XS Central locking and starting problems
My Defender's central locking packed in but we could still open it up with the key so i just presumed it was the battery when getting into the car and trying to start the engine it cut out and all the alarms go off! I've checked all the fuses and changed the batteries in both keys but still no joy Sad I love the vehicle but the electronics are driving me crazy!!!!!!! Mad
Has anyone had any similar problems or even better know how to fix it?
Thanks

Does the emergency code disable the alarm. If it does then it could be a reciever for the alarm.

Sounds like a knackerd fob unit.I have a 57 plate and have had to replace 2 fob units so far.

Aparently all the elecronics on LandRovers are customer led inovations Big Cry Well thats what one of Guy Salmons sales guys told me,at the time I was telling him that electronic hand brakes are crap. Its never over in my land rover.

Emergency Key Access code should be in the handbook, otherwise you'll have to get someone with a reader to get if off the ecu.

have you followed the fob battery changing instructions in the manual to the letter ?

IE Within the vehicle and within 5 minutes :

1) turn the key to position 2 and then remove it

2) Prise off the fob cover from the key ring end

3) remove the battery from the bottom with a small flat end screwdriver

4) press either lock or unlock button to remove any residual current

5) Insert a CR2032 battery + sign to the top/front

6) Push the cover back on the fob and from outside the vehicle press the lock button at least four times until it locks - then unlock. Job done !

I replaced my battery recently simply because its been in for 2 years now and there's quite a few posts about all sorts of shenanegans resulting from worn out fob batteries Thumbs Up
