United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Aintree Green
Remove the tubular crossmember and fit a td5 / Puma gearbox crossmember KVB500060 - these are a direct bolt in replacement for the earlier pre 300tdi tubular crossmember and being box section allow the clearance required.

I had a galvanised on advertised on here for free as well a while back

No-one wanted it and I chucked it in the end. Typical.

That sounds like the ideal solution, I shall look into that, thanks.

Diesel_Jim - shame, and I have the same thing myself. Sometimes you can't even give stuff away and they end up taking up too much space.

My current challenge, whichever way I go, is getting the old crossmember off. It is stuck solid. I know I need to spread the chassis legs but I can't get the high lift under there, the bottle jack doesn't work on its side and the only scissor jack I have is from my van and it is too big to get into a useful position.
